Remembering 9-11: The Lost, The Volunteers, and The Rebuilders

 

On a sunny Tuesday a decade ago, 18 members of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters joined dozens of their union brothers and sisters and reported for work at the World Trade Center in New York City.

They never made it home, perishing along with nearly 3,000 others in the terror attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

Every day, our Brotherhood honors the memory of these men by committing to the superior skills, productivity, and professionalism that set union carpenters apart.

Also deserving of recognition are the hundreds of UBC members who worked in the smoke and chaos at Ground Zero in the hours and days after the attack to assist in rescue and recovery efforts.

And we thank those who are hard at work today rebuilding the New York skyline and showcasing the Brotherhood’s dedication to excellence.
