Re: The Health Care Benefits Will be Taken Away for Disabled Carpenters
WELL, CONGRATULATIONS TO THE TWO NEW EXECUTIVES HIRED TODAY, THE EVE OF THE DISABLED CARPENTERS AND THEIR FAMILIES LOSING ALL MEDICAL COVERAGE. NOW, AT LAST, WE CAN SEE WHERE OUR BENEFITS ARE GOING, TO PAY THEIR SIX FIGURE SALARIES. WHAT A SAD TIME FOR HARD WORKING PEOPLE WHO WORKED THROUGH RECESSIONS, GROUND ZERO, ILLNESSES AND INJURIES....
We are a broken and the union knows it, we are kidding ourselves with this false brotherhood. No one active joined in this fight, now they will feel what the local has in store for them. Get out of New York and let them have this faux union they call a brotherhood, same on the active members. It was once a great job and livelihood for a person to buy a home and feed their family.
A PETITION SHOULD BE SENT TO JUDGE BERMAN SHOWING HIM THE HOURS THESE BURDENSOME DISABLED RETIREES CONTRIBUTED TO THEIR MEDICAL. MANY OF WHOM HAD MORE HOURS THAN PEOPLE WITH OVER 20 VESTED CREDITS. WHERE IS THAT MONEY GONE? WHO IS THAT MONEY COVERING? ARE THE B CARPENTERS BEING COVERED BY THAT MONEY? THAT MONEY WAS INVESTED? WHAT DO WE TEACH THE NEXT GENERATION ABOUT LIFE, EQUALITY AND JUSTICE? IF IT'S NOT IN A UNION IT IS NO PLACE. SHAME ON THE DELEGATES, THE TRUSTEES AND THE MEMBERS FOR LETTING THIS HAPPEN. MAYBE BILL WALSH OR SOME ONE WITH A BACKBONE WILL SPEAK UP...... HOWEVER, I DOUBT IT.
