Member ratification of BCA contract voted down by Council employees

democracy deferred
Tonight the majority of our Delegate body, comprised mainly of Council employees, voted down Mitch Sonntag's motion for Member ratification vote on Mike Bilello's Building Contractors' Association collective bargaining agreement proposal.

Delegate Greg Kelty amended Sonntag's motion to require a roll call vote, which was also voted down by Council employees.

Organizing Department Eddie McWilliams spoke out against Member ratification, and roll call vote.

The BCA proposal includes, roughly:

3 year contract

20% pay cuts

Market Recovery/non-prevailing wage jobs reduced rate

'C' class buildings reduced rate

interior alteration reduced rate

outer borough new buildings/hospitality reduced rate

hardship committee for contractors

100,000 square ft. and less reduced rate

most favored nation clause

no 9a agreement

everything else as per WC & C agreement, including:

full mobility

compliance program

Speak to your Local Union delegate about the details, and whether or not you support the BCA's proposal.

First of all, paid employees voting on anything for the members without their approval is a joke. People who weren't elected by anyone, deciding what is good for the people who didn't elect them. Give me a break. What is this organized labor or organized screwing the men. Walsh needs to veto something else now. He has to at least allow the members to have the elected officials do the voting. Not paid council employees. Fair is fair.

Millionaire McWilliams is the worst of the worst at 395. First he loses the City to non union as boss of organizing, then he tells the members at the Croation Chruch he is 100% for full mobility, now he takes away the members right to vote on their contracts. What idiots voted the $190,000 man to be their delegate?

Ninjured,
It's sad to say but these assholes that sell the members out time and again and vote against transparency (roll call votes ) were elected. This is why it is extremely important for the 157 members including retirees to come out and support the Members Voice 157 Slate. They have no council employees on their ticket and will not the support the council agenda of screwing the Rank and File. They will only vote for the issues that benefit the members. Bilello and these council hacks have sold the members out and Gausman and his ticket (Carpenters for Contractors) will sell us out too. Make the effort to stop the bleeding and come down to 395 on Wednesday February 20th and vote for members that will represent you and not the council or the contractors. VOTE MEMBERS VOICE 157
