This is kind of a useless attack. If someone could get you a hook up, you would turn it down and wait on the OWL? If you are that kind of person, I don't know how you would survive in this biz. Pete with or no hook up still has to work for the contractor. If the contractor wants to waste the their time and money, isn't that their choice? But just because he is working, he can't speak up on issues that affect the union? That's not fair. Mobility has so much to do with skill workers than it does with OWL. If contractors had an abundant group of employable workers at their disposal, the value of company men would decrease. and we would all get a faster rotation of work opportunities. Remember, contractors are about making money. Company men are only as good as the next money making opportunity.
Maybe if you had your certifications you could go to work... alot of guys bitch and complain that they dont work, but when they are out of work they dont take the time to go get certifications that can put them to work. Instead of worrying about what Im doing "Ed" worry about what the international is doing to ruin your Union. I went to work for Donaldson because i had the NYC Contstruction Fireguard Certificate of Fitness. But anyway on to the real issues as to how full mobility will change from an arrangement of 66% company and 33% union, when it should be 50- 50, to potentially 99% company and 1% union with more out of towners on jobsites then ever.
But isnt it amazing that in their explanation of Full Mobility never did Walsh or Conboy mention what full mobility is. They defned it as being the stipulations of the new Labor Management Committee instead of the ability of the contractors to not hire a single person from the local labor hall, out of work list r community in which the work is located.
Full mobility is not the correct term. You already have full mobility which allows all affiliated council locals members to work in the jurisdictional area of the council. This is 100% mobility as introduced and defined NOT BY THE CONTRACTORS but the UBC INTERNATIONAL. 100 % mobility as defined by UBC jack off Hatchet Jack Garrison is the ability of a contractor to bring in or choose 100% of the work force on any UBC job.
Also. Why was the judge not given a copy of the June letter until now if the entire contract is to hinge on Bermans court. Why did they not got to Berman before offering any agreement to the contractors that included options that must be approved by the court. Conboy claims he did so because Walsh and the US Attorney gave him the green light and were going to approve the full mobility issue. Wlash and Torrance could offer n such guarantee in June. That is of course unless the fix was in with Berman. So why did Walsh not deny what Conboy said before the court.???Was it true that Walsh and Torrance gave Conboy and the UBC the green light on 100% mobility in June without a ruling from the court?? Conboy said it was the reason he offered it to the contractors. If its true how can Walsh pretend to be fighting for your right to decide 100% mobility now??
